Work and Health in Primary Care in Ontario

Project Overview

Most patients only engage with their PCPs about their occupation if they are coming for a work-related illness or injury. Incorporating this discussion into regular clinical practice can help prevent work-related illness and injury.

Objectives:
1. Demonstrate the feasibility of automated capture and coding of patient occupation in PCP offices using the OHRT
2. Demonstrate the utility of occupational information in primary care consultation from patient and provider perspectives
3. Provide an online tool that WSIB can offer both patients and providers to capture occupational information
4. Provide WSIB with a new and real-time source of information on worker health in Ontario
